Policies to improve website accessibility

In order to create a secure website that can easily be used by all people, including the elderly and people with disabilities, we are working towards compliance with the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee's JIS X 8341-3 "Guidelines for older persons and persons with disabilities - Information and communications equipment, software and services - Part 3: Web content."

Current actions on website accessibility

  • Build sites on the HTML version 4.01 or higher, and avoid using unsupported tags.
  • Do not disable the browser's basic features, and do not modify operation menus such as the address bar and status bar or prevent them from being displayed.
  • Standardize the navigation area, display order, and terms used, and use a consistent page layout and style.
  • Ensure that links to external sites, or that open in a new window (such as PDFs) are clearly marked as such.
  • Ensure that moving elements such as slideshows on a front page can be freely paused and resumed by the user.
  • Set up alternate text describing all images for those using screen readers.
